Her Name is Carol

Her Name Is… Carol is a deeply personal memorial and music website created to honour the life and legacy of Carol McWilliams, celebrating both remembrance and creativity.

The site blends storytelling, reflection, and music, built around the meaning of the name Carol — “a joyful song” — which becomes a central theme throughout the experience. Visitors are invited to explore the story behind the songs, listen online, and download music, creating a space that feels intimate, welcoming, and heartfelt rather than sombre.

From a design perspective, the focus was on clarity, warmth, and accessibility, allowing the story and music to take centre stage. The layout is intentionally calm and unobtrusive, encouraging visitors to slow down, read, listen, and reflect. The site was structured to feel more like a personal conversation than a traditional promotional music page.

This project demonstrates the importance of emotional sensitivity in web design, showing how a website can serve not just as a technical build, but as a meaningful digital tribute — one that preserves memory, shares creativity, and connects people through music.
