"In a house group we were doing a study of the book of Revelation. It was there I discovered that those amazing words "Behold, I stand at the door and knock" was spoken to Christians! not to those who do not know the Lord. I had always loved those words but now they became personal. This song was, I believe, given to me. It was a challenge to me to take a fresh look at my relationship with God and become aware of any doors in my life and lifestyle I had kept closed to God."

"I wrote this song with my friend Roslyn after she had asked how I went about writing songs. So this was a collaboration. Thanks Roslyn."
Jesus is the light
"This is a lovely memory of Christmas Eve's long gone - of filling stockings to put on the children's beds, of the family gathering to come with my sisters and their families meeting up for tea at our parents house. But the inevitable twist that I like to throw in - the other tree on Calvary where God has left a present for all. Forgiveness, hope and life, in all its fullness."
Christmas eve
"In the years after the breakup of my marriage my children and I used to go to Green Pastures, a healing centre near Bournemouth, where I got a lot of help. This song came about after listening to other visitors sharing their life experiences."

Lord of the harvest
"I was staying with some friends in Cumbria over the Easter period and Bernard asked me if I would sing in the service he was taking. He said I could sing two songs but my problem was I hadn't written anything that related to the Sunday after Easter! His wife, Carol said I had time (3 days) to write something. She was right. The other song was - Track 15 - Mary Magdalen"
Praise and Glory
"As you may guess I love using Parables as a song. This one turned on me though. During a stay at Green Pastures I was talking to Joan, a lovely lady whose husband had been a Minister at a church we had attended 10yrs before and some time after his death she had gone to work there. Whenever I went Joan would ask to hear the new songs I had written since I had last been there. This particular year I had only written one song. Joan was disappointed there was only the one but said "let me hear" - so I sang this song for her. Her only comment was "I hope you pay attention to the words!""

"I was invited to take up the role of District Chaplain to the Girls Brigade in Hull. One event we took the girls to we performed a musical I wrote for them - a very mini musical based on the Wedding at Cana - this was the final song. "
Come and sing
"I wrote this song in the late 70's We were worshipping at a church in London and received a lot of teaching about the Holy Spirit and His gifts. Not long after I had been filled with the Spirit I really wanted to have the gift of healing. In my immaturity I just asked for the gift first and then I wondered if that was what God wanted so as I prayed and waited I said to God "If you want me to have this gift will you give me a burning in my hands like the burning I felt on my head when You filled me with Your Spirit" He did! Then the panic set in and the song was the result - if you want to follow Jesus you need to get out of the boat and walk by faith."

Mary Magdalen
"This was my Mum's favouite. For me too it was always precious. It was a gift from God. Written on Saturday night for the following Sunday morning service. John had asked me to sing and the story of Thomas was the text. Again I didn't have a song so decided to write one. I went to put the kettle on and before it had boiled the song was written. Given, rather, I could barely write fast enough to get it down on paper. Thank you God."
