I've spent quite a bit of time trying to make the traffic-light system accurately reflect a station's stream status, but unfortunately it isn't perfect.

The main issue is that online radio streams don't all behave the same way.
Different platforms (Shoutcast v1/v2, Icecast, various hosting setups, firewalls, etc.) respond differently when a directory like TORS checks their status. Trying to account for every possible setup has actually caused the status system to break in other cases.

Because of this, you may occasionally see a station showing as online, but the player on TORS doesn't play the stream.
When that happens, it usually means the stream is refusing connections from our source, even though it will still play fine when opened directly in a browser or external player.

I've tried a number of approaches, but cross-platform stream checks simply can't reliably detect every possible state without causing false positives or false negatives elsewhere.

Sorry for the inconvenience - the aim is always to give the best possible experience, but with the wide variety of stream configurations out there, some edge cases are unavoidable.
